Your new house has a pre-existing security system
Many times after you purchase a house, you’ll see that the old owners used a smart home system. All the alarms and cameras work, are installed in the right spaces, and are ready to go. In this example, all you may have to do is to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint professional will still show up to ensure there are no integration problems, and they could offer suggestions on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a fast visit, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The old owners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time set-up cost to make your life easier. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment or smaller home, turning over the security contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and bring your existing components with you
You might want to bring your old Vivint system with you to your new place when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to transfer, as many alarms and smart devices are portable. You can take down each component by yourself or contact a Vivint expert to take down everything. Then an expert will hang the same components -- and any new items you need -- in your new home. Your home security contract will remain the same.
